Having finished just four points adrift of a play-off place the previous season, Don Mackay's Fulham side kicked off the 1992-1993 season hoping to improve and this time earn a prestigious promotion to the Premier League. That progress didn't quite come about despite the best efforts of solid club servants like Jim Stannard, Simon Morgan and Gary Brazil. Fulham ultimately had to be content with a 12th placed finish seven points outside the play-off zone.
